Question: Is your initial consultation free?

We are often asked if initial consultations are free. They essentially are, if they are true initial consultations. This means that we have entered into a relationship after the consultation. If you have paid your consultation fee previously (within the past 14 days), we may credit this amount towards the cost of the case. If you hire us at the end of the consultation, then we waive the consultation fee and charge you for the casework.

Question: Why do we need to schedule a consultation meeting?

We encourage all potential clients to come in and have a one-on-one meeting with Alison Yew, our lead attorney. We are lawyers, and we are ethically bound by professional rules of conduct and ethics guideline to not provide legal advice to non-clients. It is also inappropriate to provide any advice without knowing your situation. We encourage a consultation so we may obtain the most relevant information from you in order to provide specific feedback on your situation and, if appropriate, recommend next steps. Because providing the best information to you takes time to get to know you, we want to meet you in person and give you our undivided attention during consultation meeting, set aside just for you.

Question: What is the cost of the in-office consultation?

Because we offer our expertise during this time, we charge a flat fee of $250, payable at the time of the meeting. If you retain our services at the conclusion of the meeting, the fee is applied towards the legal service fee, which is quoted to you at the end of the consultation. From our experience, our clients are happy with this arrangement. At the end of our meeting, you will be armed with information upon which you may make important immigration decisions for yourself or your family member(s).
